The
World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) started
with the first phase, hosted by the Suisse Government in Geneva from 10 to 12
December, 2003. During this phase a range of themes concerning information society
were examined which concluded in the adoption of the Declaration
of principles and the Plan of Action. The second phase of WSIS, hosted by
the Tunisian Government took place in Tunis from 16 to 18 November, 2005. The
results of the Tunis phase consisted of a final document including political and
operational issues both reflecting the main themes of the Tunis
phase and reaffirming the engagements derived from the Geneva phase with special
consideration of Least Developed Countries (LCDs). The Tunis phase consists
of the Official Summit and Parallel Events, as well as the ICT4ALL exhibition.
